Dugan was found wandering on a freeway in Montana, he was
very matted and extremely thin when found. He looks to be a
Wheaten who never had his tail docked. Dugan was fostered by
BARC Rescues in Butte, MN who cleaned him up and started
fattening him up a bit. S'Wheat Rescues was contacted to help
place him in a new home. Just a few days before we were
contacted about Dugan we had received an application from a
couple in Idaho, Pat & Louise O'Brien, who had lost their 17 year
old Wheaten, Kevin, to cancer in February of this year. One
phone call was all it took before Dugan had a new home.
Sometimes things seem to be meant to happen in just the way
the do. Dugan's foster family offered to drive halfway and meet
the O'Briens on Sat., 8/12/00. Interestingly enough - the place
they choose to meet them was Missoula, MT - the very place
their much beloved Kevin was born 17 years ago. Coincidence?
I don't think so. As you can see in the second pic -Dugan has
been groomed and looks like he is settling into his new home!
